New York State Teachers Certification Music Exam is conducted under the New York state education board. Candidate clearing this exam gets the certification to practice as an educator in the New York State. The music teacher should be able to provide students physical and intellectual access to music performances and recordings.
Eligibility for NYSTCE Music Exam
To appear for NYSTCE Music Exam, candidate needs to comply with the rules and regulations of the state education board. Candidate should be a bachelor degree holder from state or national university. Candidate should also have two hours of workshop certification in the field of Prevention of School violence and child abuse identification. These are the requirements of initial level certification which is valid for the period of three years from the date of issuance. For getting the professional certification, candidate should hold the master degree with three years of teaching experience.
Format of NYSTCE Music Exam
NYSTCE Music Exam includes objective and subjective questions. There are 90 multiple choice questions and one subjective question in the exam. Each multiple choice question is complemented with four options out of which only one is correct answer. The evaluation scale of NYSTCE Music Exam is 100 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification. If the candidate falls short of the marks in the exam then he is liable to appear again for the assessment after the period of 30 days.
