Eligibility for NYSTCE English to Speakers of Other Languages Exam
To appear for NYSTCE English to Speakers of Other Language Exam, candidate should meet the eligibility conditions issued by the board. New York State Educator Board gives two types of certification to the candidate initial and professional. Initial certification is valid for the period of three years and should be advanced to professional level certification after its expiration. The basic requirement for getting the certification is a bachelor degree and clearance certificate of fingerprints from the board. Candidate applying for professional certification should have master degree and three years teaching experience in the field.
Format of NYSTCE English to Speakers of Other Languages Exam
NYSTCE English to Speakers of Other Language Exam includes objective and subjective type questions. There are 90 multiple choice questions and 1 subjective question. This exam is evaluated on the scale of 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification. If the candidate falls short of the marks in this assessment, then candidate can appear again for the exam after the period of 30 days. To score high in the exam candidate should attempt maximum questions as there is no negative marking for the wrong answer.
