Eligibility for NYSTCE Family and Consumer Science Exam
New York State Teachers Certification Exam offers two level of certification to the aspiring candidates initial and professional. Initial certification is an entry-level credential required by the educator to start his career as an educator. The candidate needs to have a bachelor's degree from a state or national university. Candidates should also have workshop certification to get eligible for achieving the certification.
Format of NYSTCE Family and Consumer Science Exam
NYSTCE Family and Consumer Science Exam is evaluated on a scale of 100- 300 out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification. Candidates can score marks by attempting more and more questions as there is no negative marking. If the candidate falls short of the marks in the exam then he is liable to take the assessment again however only after the period of 30 days. The total duration for completing the exam is 240 minutes. This exam includes 90 multiple choice questions and one subjective question.

- Careers and work skills 13% - procuring job, success in workplace, family science and consumer knowledge.
One subjective question is formed from the topic of parenting and human development. The candidate should answer the query in a creative, concise way as it carries 10% weightings in the exam.
