Eligibility for NYSTCE Communication and Quantitative Skills Exam


Certification for NYSTCE Communication and Quantitative Skills Exam is available in two phases initial and proficient. Initial certification is entry level certification, valid for the period of three years. After its expiration, candidate needs to apply for the proficient certification. Both have different eligibility requirements which should be met by the candidate to get liable for the certification.

For initial certification candidate should have bachelor degree from state/national university. Candidate should also have school violence prevention workshop certification and child abuse identification workshop certification to get eligible for initial level certification.

For proficient certification candidate should have master degree from the state/national university. Candidate should also have three years of teaching experience in the field. Candidate is also required to clear fingerprinting round for getting the professional certification.

Format of NYSTCE Communication and Quantitative Skills Exam


NYSTCE Communication and Quantitative Skills Exam includes 100 multiple choice questions. Each question is supplemented with four options each. This exam is evaluated on the scale of 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification. Total duration for completing the exam is 240 minutes. Candidate should try to attempt maximum questions as there is no negative marking for the wrong answers. If the candidate falls short of the marks in the exam then he is liable to appear again in the same test after the period of 30 days.
