MTTC Accounting Test Study Guide

MTTC Accounting exam is administered by Michigan Department of Education to give certification to eligible candidates. Candidate clearing Michigan Test for Teacher Certification gets the permission to teach in state. Candidate needs to pass both MTTC Basic Skills Exam and MTTC Accounting exam to get certification. This procedure is valid for both elementary and secondary level certification.

Eligibility for MTTC Accounting Exam

To appear for MTTC Accounting exam, candidate needs to meet following sets of requirements:-

• Candidate should be atleast 21 years of age
• Candidate should have bachelor degree from any state approved college
• Candidate should have mastery in the subject which he is aspiring to teach in the state

If the candidate has the certification from any other state and meets the following conditions then he does not require to take the MTTC Certification:-

• He should have three years of teaching experience
• Masters or Doctoral degree from state approved college.

Candidate can get the non renewable certification if he is unable to meet the above requirements however he/she is required to meet rest of the conditions. After the expiration of non renewable certificate, candidate needs to appear in appropriate subject specific tests.

Syllabus of MTTC Accounting exam

Following are the topics which are important from examination point of view. Hence candidate should study these topics nicely to get good marks in the exam.

• Processing of information and communication grammar, punctuation, oral and business communication etc. It constitutes 16% of the exam.
• Finance and mathematics in business bank services, investment options, credit, borrowing etc. It constitutes 20% of the exam.
• Principles and procedures of accounting financial statements, work sheets etc. It constitutes 40% of the exam.
• Economics and management in business U.S. Economy, consumer economics etc. It constitutes 24% of the exam.

Scoring of MTTC Accounting exam is done on the scale of 300, out of which 220 are the minimum marks required to get the certification.

Format of MTTC Accounting Exam

Candidate has to appear for MTTC Basic Skills Exam along with the accounting exam which includes reading, writing and mathematics sections. Candidate needs to pass all of these sections to get the certification. There are 85 multiple choice questions and one constructive response query in MTTC Basic Skills Exam.

If the candidate falls short of the marks in the exam, then he is liable to appear again for the exam. However candidate needs to take counseling session from the state university to overcome the deficiency reported while attempting the test.
