GACE Basic Skills Exam Study Guide
Basic skills include basic knowledge of all the core subjects like English, mathematics, writing, reading etc. candidates knowledge in all these fields are tested through GACE Basic Skills Exam. Georgia Assessment for the Certification of Educators Exam is conducted by Georgia Professional Standards Commission to grant certification to eligible candidates. GPSC is the board which gives certification to those candidates who are apt and perfect for the job. GACE Basic Skills Exam is composed of three sub tests. The first sub test includes reading portion; the second sub test includes mathematics and the third sub test is inclusive of writing section. The first two sub tests are objective based and the third sub test is writing based.
Eligibility for GACE Basic Skills Exam
To appear for GACE Basic Skills Exam, candidate should have bachelor degree and should be enrolled in post bachelor degree. Alternative for getting the certification is the requirement of bachelor degree and certification recommendation. Through this candidate gets the renewable certificate, which needs up gradation from time to time.
Format of GACE Basic Skills Exam
GACE Basic Skills Exam is the test which measures candidates excellence in the subject. The format of the question paper of GACE Basic Skills Exam is given below:-
Test 1 Reading 42 objective questions
Test 2 Mathematics 48 Objective questions
Test 3 Writing 42 Objective questions + 1 write up
In subtest 3, 60% of the marking is done on the multiple choice questions, 40 % is based on the writing section. Marking of GACE Basic Skills Exam is done on the scale of 300, out of which 220 is the minimum marks. Candidate needs to pass in all the sub tests to get the certification.

Syllabus of GACE Basic Skills Exam include following sections :-
- Reading - passage and comprehension, reasoning skills, vocabulary testing, interpretation of the write ups etc.
- Mathematics number systems, geometry, data analysis and interpretation
- Writing - Standard English, composing the original write up for the examination.
Candidate can reappear for GACE Basic Skills Exam incase he/she falls short of the marks in the exam. He can appear for innumerable times in the exam to get the certification however candidate should wait atleast 30 days before enrolling for the examination.
