Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination OPTE 6-12 Exam


Every educator in Oklahoma that wishes to teach in grade 6 to grade 12 needs to pass the OPTE, under code 076. The state of Oklahoma administers the online Certification Examinations for Oklahoma Educators or CEOE. A similar test called the OPTE PK - 8, which is for grades PK to grade 8 is also available. Eligibility for Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination OPTE 6-12 Exam


The tests can be taken all year, except for Sundays and some holidays. This means, all teachers including the entry-level ones and ones that are not originally from the state of Oklahoma, are free to apply to this program. Format of Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination OPTE 6-12 Exam


The Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examinations or OPTE for grades 6 to 12 consists of 75 multiple-choice and selected-response questions and 3 constructed response questions. The OPTE is a computer-based test. This is also a timed test that takes up to four hours and fifteen minutes to complete, of which:

  • 4 hours are reserved for the questions and
  • 15 minutes, in the beginning, are given for a short how-to and agreement signing.

How to Apply for Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination OPTE 6-12 Exam


After signing up on the online certification examinations site with a teaching ID number and personal data, the candidate needs to fill out the needed information, and freely apply to take this test. When applying, a test fee is needed, and in total adds up to $165. The OPTE test itself costs $140 with the CBT fee, which costs $25. After applying and paying the fee, the candidate needs to pick out a date and location to book for taking the test.

Scores for Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination OPTE 6-12 Exam


Around 70% of the score is made up of the selected-response questions and the remaining 30% of the constructed-response assignments. All CEOE tests are graded with scores that land between 100 and 300, this means a passing score is considered to be 240 points. Official test results are visible on certain dates, and available online on the official state certification website.
