ILTS Test
Illinois licensure testing system is a set of exams incepted by the State Board for Educator Licensure (SBEC). The ILTS exams are administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The exams are designed to specifically determine whether an individual has the necessary knowledge to be an entry-level educator in the Illinois public school system.
Eligibility for ILTS Exam
For an individual to be considered for an ILTS exam, the person must first receive approval from an educator preparation program. Additionally, he or she must have also received an approved teaching certificate from an in-state or out-state authority. In case the individual does not have the certificate, a Bachelor’s Degree in a field related to education for grades 8-12 from an approved program will come in handy. However, in the event an individual needs to take an exam with a bachelor’s degree or higher, it is then necessary to apply in order to receive a temporary teaching certificate at the SBEC. In case one meets any of the above-mentioned conditions, the registration can be done with ETS online, by mail, or by phone.
Candidate has to pay $82 for the exam registration unless it is the superintended exam which has charges of $164.
