FTCE Spanish K-12 Exam

Eligibility FTCE Spanish K-12 Exam
To be eligible to take FTCE Spanish Examination, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree major in Spanish or in any course that is related. For professional certification, they must have a master's degree and for temporary certification, they need to have a minimum 2.5 GPA in the subject.
Syllabus for FTCE Spanish K-12 Exam
The syllabus for FTCE Spanish examination covers the following core aspects-
- Speaking section- 25% Candidates are required to give classroom instructions, respond to everyday based questions, communicate on personal topics, and express opinions.
- Writing- 15% Candidates are assessed on their ability to write logically or in an organized manner by making use of grammar, vocabulary.

Format for FTCE Spanish K-12 Exam
FTCE Spanish K-12 exam is a computer-based exam that has approximately 80 multiple choice questions and 1 essay i.e. constructed response-based question. It involved 5 speaking assignments. The time allotted to the candidates to complete the exam is 2 hours 30 minutes.
Breaks taken during the exam are considered as part of the testing time.
FTCE Examinations require candidates to have minimal understanding of computer and typing skills. Candidates must be comfortable with the Windows environment using a mouse.
Information about the Essay based question component
The essay test evaluates the ability of the candidate in the time allotted. Candidates are required to write an original essay that effectively addresses the topic in a well-organized manner, with great grammar and spellings. Handwritten responses are not allowed until the candidate is requested and it has been approved.

Candidates can apply for the exam online and can register for the same. Appointment for the exam is available round the year and you can schedule the same during the registration process. Test sites are available at selected locations and candidates can choose the site based on their convenience.
Fee Structure for The FTCE Spanish K-12 Exam
Candidates are required to pay USD 150 as the registration fee.
First attempt fee - If candidates are taking the exam for the first time then they are required to pay a first attempt fee.
Retake fee - If candidates wish to retake the test as they have not qualified in the past then they can apply for recertification or renew the current certification. They must pay a retake fee.
Scores for the FTCE Spanish K-12 Exam
Candidates must score 200 to qualify for the exam. The score reports are released within 4 weeks from the test.
