FTCE Humanities K-12 Exam Study Guide


Humanities is the subject that deals with the art and culture of the human beings in the past and present. Not only with the art and culture it also deals with the socio and political upheavals of man. Therefore an educator teaching humanities subject to his students should be a personality of perfection and should have good hand at literal and historical past of the beings. Florida department of Education conducts examination for granting certification to the eligible candidates. Candidate can prove his eligibility by appearing and scoring in FTCE Humanities Exam. Florida Department of Education offers two choices for certification:-

  • Professional certification
  • Temporary certification

Both these certifications have different eligibility criteria. Hence candidate should match his qualifications with the requirements of the certification and apply accordingly.

Eligibility for FTCE Humanities Exam


To appear for FTCE Humanities Exam, candidate should meet the conditions of the education board. Both the certifications have different requirements; hence candidate needs to be careful while applying for the certification.

For professional certification, candidate needs to possess bachelor degree and specialization in humanities stream.

For temporary certification, candidate needs to possess bachelor degree and 2.5 GPA in humanities subject.

For both type of certification candidate needs to submit finger prints report to the board for ensuring about the zero criminal record. Candidate should know that professional certification is valid for the period of five academic years and temporary certification is valid for the period of three academic years.

Format of FTCE Humanities Exam


Syllabus of FTCE Humanities Exam is:-

  • Principal aesthetics in assessment and evaluation of arts
  • Relationship between cultural psychology and belief and their impact on humanities
  • Connection between art and ideologies
  • Historical period of art and culture and their evolution from time to time

Topics mentioned above are very important from the examination point of view. Candidate should study these topics well to get good marks. There are 120 multiple choice questions in FTCE Humanities Exam. Candidate gets 150 minutes to solve these questions. Format of the exam includes: Questions of situation analysis, completing the sentence, direct questioning and commanding query. Once the candidate gets the certification, he earns the credentials to practice in Florida State as an educator.
