FTCE Reading K-12 Exam Study Guide
Florida Department of Education conducts FTCE Reading Exam to grant certification to the eligible educators. Candidate passing Florida Teacher Certification Exam gets the permission to teach in Florida State as a Reading Educator. Reading Educator guides his students regarding the basic techniques and tactics of reading the literary text and composition. He should be well equipped and competent to influence his students reading style in the most efficient way. Candidate needs to enroll himself with the education board to get the certification. FLDOE offers two types of certifications to the candidate:-
- Professional certification
- Temporary certification
Both these certification has different eligibility conditions however same exam format. Candidate should meet all the eligibilities of the certification laid by the education board.
Eligibility for FTCE Reading Exam
To appear for FTCE Reading Exam, candidate should meet the guidelines issued by the education board. For both professional and temporary certification, candidate should have bachelor degree. Other eligibility requirements are:- For professional certification
- Candidate should have master degree in the subject
- Candidate should renew the certification after the period of five academic years
- Candidate should have 2.5 GPA in the subject.
- This certification is non renewable and is valid for the period of three academic years. After the expiration of certification, candidate needs to apply for professional certification.

- Situation analysis
- Commanding query
- Completing the sentence
- Literary composition
- Decoding and encoding the composition
- Fluency
- Reading and interpreting the content area
- Interpretation of various elements
- Research in reading field
- Supervising and instructing the entire program
For temporary certification
Candidate also needs to submit finger prints report to the education board. Candidate will get the certification after the verification of finger prints reports by FLDOE.
Format of FTCE Reading Exam
FTCE Reading Exam is a multiple choice question exam which tests the objective knowledge of the candidate. There are 120 objective questions in FTCE Reading Exam. Each question is complemented with four options with it. Formats of the questions included in FTCE Reading Exam are:-
