FTCE Art K-12 Exam Study Guide


An educator, who seeks to teach art to his students in Florida State, needs to take Florida Teacher Certification Art Exam. This exam is conducted by FLDOE (Florida Department of Education) board. FLDOE gives certification to the eligible candidate who passes FTCE Art Exam. FTCE Art Exam is an assessment of candidates competencies and efficiency to teach the subject. There are two types of certification available with FLDOE board.

  • Temporary certification which is non renewable and
  • Professional certification which is renewable after five years of school teaching.
      Candidate who seeks to teach art should be proficient in any of the competency area listed by the board.

      Eligibility for FTCE Art Exam


      To appear in FTCE Art Exam, candidate has to fulfill the eligibility criteria listed by Florida Dept. of Education. Candidate should select the type of certification available with FLDOE board. For both the certification candidate needs the bachelor degree. But for temporary certification candidate needs 2.5 GPA in the subject. Whereas for getting professional certificate candidate needs to be specialized in the subject. Temporary certificate is valid for the period of three academic years and professional certificate is valid for five academic years. After this period candidate has to apply for renewal of professional certification. Candidate should keep in mind that temporary certification does not gets renewed. Once the time period of the temporary certification gets over, candidate has to apply for the professional certification by completing all the eligibility conditions.

      Format of FTCE Art Exam


      FTCE Art Exam offers various competencies level in order to prepare better for the exam. FTCE Art Exam involves the following topics:-

      • Drawing
      • Painting
      • Sculpturing
      • Print making
      • Ceramics
      • Fine craft
      • Graphic design
      • Photography
      • Use of computer technology in art
      • Influence of culture and history on art
      • Influence of society on art
      • Visual arts etc.
        • These topics are given due weightage hence candidate should study them carefully. FTCE Art Exam includes 120 multiple choice questions. Candidate gets two and a half hours for attempting the FTCE Art Exam. The multiple choice questions are based on different formats like direct questioning, command based questioning, sentence completion, scenario etc. candidate should be accurate while answering them as they tests the candidates objectivity to tackle the problems and select the correct option.
