The OSAT U.S. History/Oklahoma History/Government/Economics exam (017) is a certification exam designed to assess whether or not a teacher possesses the knowledge and skills required to teach classes in Oklahoma public schools. The exam is a requirement in terms of certification for teaching and with the goal of earning a teaching license. This test in particular has themes of both U.S. and Oklahoma history, Government, and Economics.
After taking this test, the candidate can apply for an educator in History, Social studies, and other related fields. These classes are taught from Pre Kindergarten to high school. These courses teach young American citizens about their country, world, nation, and society around them, through the help of other disciplines as well such as political science, economics, religion, geography, and anthropology.
The OSAT U.S. History/Oklahoma History/Government/Economics exam is conducted by the Oklahoma state education board, over the official state’s testing site or Certification Examination of Oklahoma Educators.
Eligibility for OSAT U.S. History/Oklahoma History/Government/Economics Exam
Teachers from the state of Oklahoma, who have a background education in History, Social studies, or a related field can apply to take this exam. Before applying you need to have finished an OGET test as an initial certification. Entry-level teachers also can apply for this test. Oklahoma teachers must hold a bachelor’s degree and complete a teacher preparation program when it comes to the educational requirements. Candidates must also pass the required tests set by the Oklahoma Commission for Teacher Preparation (OCTP).

This test consists of three subareas:
- U.S. and Oklahoma History
- Government and Political Science
- Economics
The subareas should cover the whole test subject and make sure the future teacher is knowledgeable in History, Government, and Economics, and in line with state standards.
Format of OSAT U.S. History/Oklahoma History/Government/Economics Exam
This is a computer-based test, with a duration of a maximum of 4 hours and 15 minutes. In the 4 hours, one should finish the test that is made up of 81 questions, because the first 15 minutes should be used for an introduction and agreement signing. The testing consists of 80 selected-response questions and 1 constructed-response assignment. The test is taken by appointment all year, Monday through Saturday.
How to Apply for OSAT U.S. History/Oklahoma History/Government/Economics Exam
The candidate needs to pay a fee of $135 in order to register for this exam, where $80 is for the test itself, a $25 CBT fee, and a $30 registration processing fee, paid once per year. You can apply online and hold an Oklahoma teaching ID. After owning a profile, applying, and paying the fee, you are eligible to take the test in the next year.
