OSAT Middle Level Social Studies Exam
Oklahoma State requires candidates to appear for subject-specific exams for teaching. OSAT Middle-level social studies exam is conducted to evaluate candidate expertise in the subject based on knowledge and skills. Entry-level candidates are assessed on their expertise in the social studies subject.
Eligibility for OSAT Social Studies Exam
Candidates must fulfill the following conditions to be eligible for appearing in the OSAT Middle-level social studies exam-
- Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized college/university that has an approved program.
- Must have a major in the field of study- Social Studies.
- Meet the standards set by the State Board of Education in Oklahoma.
Syllabus of OSAT Middle-Level Social Studies Exam
The OSAT exam for social studies covers MCQs and response-based questions. MCQ or selected-response questions are covered from the following subareas and its overall weightage is 85%
- World, US, and Oklahoma History- 37%
- Government and Economics- 16%
- Geography and Culture- 16%
- Research Skills- 16%
The constructed response question section of the exam is based on topics related to World, the USA, and Oklahoma History.
Format of OSAT Middle-Level Social Studies Exam
OSAT- Oklahoma subject area test involves the following format for examination-
- The exam is computer-based.
- The allotted time to complete the exam is 4 hours + 15 minutes CBT Tutorial.
- MCQ- Multiple Choice Questions: 80 (85% weightage)
- 1 Constructed response question (15% weightage)
How to apply for OSAT for Middle-Level Social Studies
Candidates can apply for the exam online. To apply, appointments are available round the year, Monday through Saturday. After applying online, candidates will receive testing confirmation information and this will include their schedule for the test, test date, and time, with details of the center. It is advisable to review the computer-based tutorials before the exam, so to get an idea about the online exam. The candidate should be prepared to utilize the entire online test session and complete the test within the allotted time.
Scores of OSAT for Middle-Level Social Studies
A minimum passing score of 240 is required to qualify for OSAT for Middle-level social studies. The subject area covers questions that are randomly selected by the educators and then a separate panel is allotted to validate the questions approved.
Fee for OSAT for Middle-Level Social Studies
A fee of $135 applies to every teacher taking the test. $80 is the base fee, $25 is the CBT fee, and $30 registration processing fee (paid once per program year).
