OSAT Middle Level English Exam

The Oklahoma public school teaching system requires that teachers, before starting to teach in public schools, earn their teaching license. This means passing a set of exams that prepares them to offer the best possible experience and education to their pupils. First comes the Oklahoma General Education Test or OGET that examines their basic skills in the topic of teaching. Next comes our topic of choice, or the Oklahoma Subject Area Test (OSAT). This test is made to check the basic knowledge of the teachers' set of skills in their topic of choice. Last comes the Oklahoma Professional Teaching Examination or OPTE.

The OSAT tests are available through the Certification Examination of Oklahoma Educators. Oklahoma Subject Area Test or OSAT is in line with Oklahoma Full Subject-Matter Competencies and other national standards. The OSAT test is designed to examine the knowledge of a certain topic. The goal of the test is to certificate the knowledge and skills every teacher needs to educate in public schools in their field of knowledge. One of the OSAT tests, under code 124, is the Middle-Level English test designed for non-native speakers.
