Nail Technician Certification Exam - Study Guide Test Preparation
The National-Interstate Council of State Boards of Cosmetology (NIC) conducts the National Nail Technology Exam that is aimed at certification of students in the field of Manicuring and Nail Technology in the United States of America.
The applicant for this test must be sixteen years of age and must be licensed to work in all states of America. In some states the age limit may be up to eighteen years as well. Apart from that the applicant must have cleared at least an Eighth Grade Exam or must be a High School Graduate
The national nail technology exam includes two tests that are formulated to assess the candidate's competence in nail care. The examination pattern consists of a written exam or 90 minutes and a practical exam of 100 minutes.
The written test includes multiple choice questions that assesses the candidate knowledge over basic scientific issues like basic human anatomy, infection control procedures, nail composition and basic chemistry, nail technology and procedure tools, basic massage movements, electric filling and speciality services.
The practical portion of the exam tests the applicants proficiency in manicure, nail tip formation, Nail Wrap, Sculpted nail sharpening and polishing. For the practical exam, candidates are expected to bring their own sanitized kit. They can either use a live model or a mannequin hand as the subject for their practical questions depending on the policy of the state in which they appear for the exam.
Once the candidate has qualified this examination we will be certified to work at any beauty care saloon or even run own parlour.
