Esthetician Certification Programs

Most esthetician programs require you to take at least 600 hours of coursework and achieve a minimum average grade. It is a long process, requiring many hours of training and work experience. To conclude the course, most states stipulate that you must pass an examination to prove that you have the skills and knowledge to enter practice, and that would include awareness of the safety procedures and regulations surrounding make up and skin care.

Estheticians need to learn a wide range of skills to practice to a high level. They must know how to operate safely, understanding pharmacology and product chemistry as permanent damage to the delicate skin of the face is always a risk. The esthetician courses require candidates to have a good understanding of esthetics, anatomy and physiology, and they have to learn about skin conditions, disorders, diseases, sanitation, and safety.

Alongside artistic flair, licensing boards set stringent examinations and a required number of hours of intern-ship and practical work. Failure to pass means that no license will be granted.
