When applying for candidate stature candidate must hold an associate degree in biomedical subjects or in electronics technology. If in case candidate is devoid of either of any two conditions then a two year working experience as bio medical equipment technician/technologist can fulfill the criteria. To apply for the certification status applicant must possess associate degree in any of the two fields listed above with at least 2-3 years of working experience as bio med equipment techie. In case if he/she does not possess the same 4 years working experience in the same field will do the needful. For upgrading from candidate to certification status applicant must fulfill the lapse requirement within 5 years.

For becoming a specialist in handling radiology equipments, applicant has to go through written exam. This exam carries 150 multiple choice questions. The total duration for completing this exam is 240 minutes or 4 hours.
