ABCTE English Language Arts Exam Study Guide


ABCTE or American Board for Certification of Teachers Excellence conducts exam to certify teachers in field of English language and arts. Candidates having keen interest in teaching literary composition and transliteration to the students can go through this exam and can get certification. One must possess excellence in the field of literature and self compositing articles and pieces. He/she should have competent skills and cognitively determined towards the literature and art. Candidate should also possess research skills to deliver more and more towards the field.

Eligibility of ABCTE English Language Arts Exam


To be an English language and art teacher candidate needs certification from ABCTE. For this candidate should hold atleast a bachelor degree in the specific subjects. Since the syllabus of the exam is in high incidence with the college curriculum, therefore degree in the same subject will hold a good point for the candidate. Other than this a proper score in the exam will definitely pave the way towards certification. Moreover candidates backdrop check is also done by the board to prevent any further penalties.

Format of ABCTE English Language Arts Exam


ABCTE gives certification to the candidate if he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria. One of the main eligibility condition is to possess a valid score in the exam. Exam for certification involves two phases- objective questions and subjective part. Objective part carries multiple choice questions. In Written exam, candidate has to create a write up without any helping tool. All in total there are 150 questions + 1 write up. The total duration for doing the objective part is 180 minutes and for doing the written constituent is 60 minutes. The topics included in the exam are conception of the text, oral and prescribed knowledge, instructive and proficient skills. The entire score of objective test is converted on the scale of 500 and written test on the scale of 6. For getting certified as a proficient teacher candidate must secure 270 marks and for getting certified as a distinguished teacher candidate must secure 307 marks. In literary part, candidate must atleast score 4 out of 6.
