Format for PECT Special Education PreK-8 Exam
It is a simple computer-based exam that consists of 2 modules. Candidates are allotted 60 minutes each for both modules to complete 41 selected-response questions. Candidates who have requested special testing accommodation need to provide written documentation.
How to Apply for the PECT Special Education PreK-8 Exam?
Candidates can apply for the exam online and the test dates can be chosen based on availability. Testing sites remain the same as other PECT exams- throughout the US, Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, Canada.
Payments can be made online and a fee waiver is also provided to the candidates who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or a degree program. The only condition is that they should be receiving financial aid.
Candidates must report to the testing site 15 minutes before the scheduled exam and must carry a valid photo ID. Soft copies of the documents are not allowed. Acceptable IDs are- driving license, passport, state identification, national identification.

The cost of the PECT Special Education PreK-8 Exam is USD 50 per module and the candidates who are taking both modules together are required to pay USD 87.
Scores for PECT Special Education PreK-8 Exam
After the testing is completed, candidates would be provided with an unofficial score report. Access to the formal score report is provided after 10 days of the completion of the exam. Scores are also directly provided and reported to the Pennsylvania Department of education. The minimum passing score to qualify for the exam is 220 and it is scaled in the range of 100-300.
If candidates are not able to qualify for the module or are not satisfied with the score then they can retake the exam but they should wait for a minimum of 30 days from the day when the examination was first taken.

PECT Special Education 7-12 Exam
The Special Education 7-12 exam is meant for teachers who wish to educate students with special needs. Candidates are evaluated on basis of their knowledge, learning theory, and their understanding of the children or students who are specially abled.
PECT Special education 7-12 assessment covers two modules and candidates must undertake as well as qualify both modules. Candidates are required to qualify these modules to be eligible to teach in Pennsylvania Public Schools.

Format for PECT Special Education 7-12 Exam
The examination is a computer-based test and it has been split into two modules-
- Module 1 has 41 selected-response questions
- Module 2 has 41 selected-response questions
The allotted time to the candidates during the examination is-
- Module 1- 60 minutes testing time
- Module 2- 60 minutes testing time
Candidates appearing for both the modules in a single test session have 15 minutes break in between the modules.
How to Apply for the PECT Special Education 7-12 Exam?
Candidates can apply for the exam online through appointment which is available throughout the year. The examination can be taken at the universities and testing centers.
Candidates can take the exam once every 45 days. They should bring along their original ID proof to the testing site on the examination day.
Scores for PECT Special Education 7-12 Exam
The qualifying score or the cut-off for each module is 220. Candidates must score a minimum of 220 to be eligible to teach Special education to the students. Scores are converted into the scaled scores between 100 and 300. Scores reports are made available within 10 business days to the candidates. There is no penalty for a negative or an incorrect answer, so the candidates can continue to respond to all the questions.

PECT PreK-4 Exam
PECT- Pennsylvania Educator Certification Tests was created in 2010, to offer assessments to ensure that the candidates undertaking the test must possess the required knowledge. These tests were conducted to analyze the performance and competencies of candidates to become certified Pennsylvania Educators. PDE- Pennsylvania Department of Education developed this program with help of the Evaluation System group of Pearson and Pennsylvania Educators.

The undergraduate candidates interested in taking up the PECT PreK-4 exam must have qualified for the basic skills assessment exam like the PAPA- Pre-Service Academic Performance Assessment.
Candidates who have completed Post Graduation as well as who are advanced degree holders are not required to take up the basic skills assessment exam.

PECT PAPA Exam
Pennsylvania Department of Education- PDE together in association with the Evaluation Systems group of Pearson in 2010 delivered the Pennsylvania Educator Certification Tests program. It is responsible for providing Teacher Certification Tests for prospective Pennsylvania Educators. These tests were first administered in April 2012. These were developments in alignment with Pennsylvania regulations and standards for the teachers.
It is composed of several tests including PAPA- Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment. PAPA test has been designed as a set of test objectives that follows a detailed outline that explains the skills and knowledge of the candidate.
Eligibility for PECT PAPA Exam
Anyone who wants to be a teacher or educator in Pennsylvania should take this test. Undergraduates seeking initial certification are eligible for the Pre-service Academic Performance Assessment (PAPA), as well as the relevant certification area tests.

- PECT PAPA exam is a computer-based test.
- Reading: 36- selected-response items/questions
- Mathematics: 36- selected-response items/questions
- Writing: 36- selected-response items/questions. Out of this, it has 2 sentence correction assignments and 1 constructed-response assignment.
Allotted time
- Mathematics- 75 minutes
- Writing- 75 minutes
- Candidates are provided with 15 minutes for a computer-based testing tutorial.
- Candidates who undertake all the 3 modules during an ongoing single test session can take 15 minutes to break between each module.
Scores for PECT PAPA Exam
All three modules can be taken as one test appointment. It can be qualified by meeting or exceeding the minimum qualifying score on all 3 modules. The minimum qualifying score is-

The reading and Mathematics module's preliminary test results are available at the test center after the test session. And reports are made available within 10 business days after testing.

Praxis Geometry Exam
Candidates need to acquire the relevant knowledge and skills for the teaching career by taking the Praxis test. There are several Praxis tests and the Praxis Geometry test is specifically designed to assess the mathematical knowledge and competencies that are required by the candidate to be a Geometry Teacher.
